Two things matter on the 99Exch sign-in after a reset: the username the desk issued, and the one-time code your phone receives when 2FA is on. Nothing else.

Before asking anyone, rule out the boring causes. A trailing space copied from a WhatsApp message, caps lock, or a mirror address that has not finished loading all produce the same refusal on 99Exch. In practice the third row is the common one. A number changed a year ago, the 99Exch ID was never told, and every code goes to a SIM sitting in a drawer.
There is no fixed number of minutes we can promise here. OTP delivery depends on the mobile network as much as on 99Exch, so it is hard to say how long is too long. A rough rule: if a resend has not shown up after a couple of minutes, the cause is usually the number on file rather than the network, and the desk is the faster fix.

That last point catches more people than you would think. Adding a 1 to the reset key feels like a change. It is not: whoever saw the chat can guess it in two tries.
Should you write it down? Some people do, on paper, at home, and that is probably safer than reusing an old password. The code only comes when 2FA is switched on, and it goes to the mobile number saved on your 99Exch ID. If nothing arrives after a resend, that number is usually outdated or the SIM is not in your phone. Ask support to confirm the registered number, then request one fresh code.
Sign in once with your username and the temporary password the desk sent, enter the OTP if 2FA is on, then open your account options and choose to change the password. Pick something used nowhere else. After that, the temporary key from the chat should never be typed again.
